MAY JUNE JULY is three months in 2020. Peonies, fireflies, and a skater. Private to public. Figure-ground relation to landscape. The figure is in the way of the landscape. The choice of one of these particular landscapes—Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington D.C. and the movement of a professional roller skater (Jahleel Gardner) navigating those letters means you can see it and not see it, the figure is in the way. The film relates to my general art practice, and the focus on the way in which somebody marks the landscape with their gestures.
