Philip Scheffner has created a distinct form of political thinking in his films that enables a redistribution of visibility and invisibility. He creates complex image and soundscapes, interweaves stories, and meticulously follows traces that constantly open up in new directions. We are very pleased to be releasing two more films as a double DVD in conjunction with Filmgalerie 451. All Scheffner’s films have premiered at the Berlinale.
REVISION (G 2012) Director: Philip Scheffner, 106 Min. + 36 Min. Extra
A documentary turns into a cinematic “revision”. The film reconstructs the circumstances that led to the death of Grigore Velcu and Eudache Calderar in a field near the German-Polish border in 1992. With increasingly oppressive intensity, Scheffner weaves a net of landscape and memory, eyewitness accounts, reports and case files. Though Grigore Velcu and Eudache Calderar are named in the files and their addresses are cited, their parents never knew there had been a trial.

AND-EK GHES… (G 2016) Regie: Philip Scheffner, Colorado Velcu, 94 Min.
AND-EK GHES... continues an extraordinary collaboration between the co-directors Philip Scheffner and Colorado Velcu that began with the film REVISION (Berlinale, Forum 2012). This was an attempt to establish a common cinematic space between protagonists, filmmakers and now, three years later, the audience is expanded. The camera duplicates itself; besides the filmmaker’s, there are another one, two or three cameras that wander from hand to hand.
