Swedish filmmaker and film scholar Petra Bauer once said: “For me, film is never just pure documentation, but always also a draft of the world and in the best case a draft for something that doesn’t exist yet. And that’s where it’s radicality lies.” In Afghanistan, only few people still enjoy a good life – filmmaker Sebastian Heidinger showed the film TRAUMFABRIK KABUL at the 2011 Berlinale Forum, which accompanies director, actress and police officer Saba Sahar in her everyday life in Kabul. In 2020, she was the victim of an attack. How is she doing today? TRAUMFABRIK KABUL is a radical film – even more so in view of the current political and social situation.
