zu den Ticketszu dem KalenderAlthough not conceived as a unit, three of Chantal Akerman's documentary works are sometimes described in relation to one another, as a "triptych turned towards current events" (Patrick Straumann), whose connecting points lie in the experiences of borders and exclusion, and in the infiltration of the present and history.
D'EST: Shortly after the collapse of communism, Akerman embarked on a journey from East Germany to Moscow that began in summer and ended in the depths of winter. Static shots alternate with tracking shots of landscapes, people, and faces. A stream of images reflects the impressions of the subjective journey, queues, dance halls, station concourses, kitchens - the places remain unnamed, no explanatory voiceover, hardly a word. A cautious approach, accompanied by the rustling of the icy wind, the roar of the cars and, again and again, music.
