Every Friday night from 1963 to 1999, "Bericht aus Bonn" flickered into the living rooms of the Federal Republic of Germany, providing information about the events of the week. While the political TV program mainly gave politicians a chance to have their say, the fictional character "Lieschen Müller" (Renée Felden) in Helke Sander's semi-documentary satire talks mainly to the "little man on the street". The answers to the questions about how men see themselves, how they treat women, what they think about ties or brothels, or attractiveness and age are at times touchingly old-fashioned, but more often misogynistic, and occasionally racist.
