Four generations of a family come together in a country house in the Uckermark for the holidays. An idyllic summer, one might imagine. But the constellation is fragile: the house owner Anna (Angela Winkler) wants to sell up, her daughter Laura's (Karoline Eichhorn) relationship with husband Paul (Uwe Bohm) is falling apart, her mother is in poor health and the other daughter Sophie is causing further unrest. Teasing is the order of the day and conflicts break out. The camera remains motionless and untouched at all times, taking pictures of nature alongside the family scenes, showing swaying treetops and the rustling of the wind in the leaves. FERIEN marked a twist in Arslan's cinema: He switched from the city to the countryside and for the first time used professional actors instead of amateurs. (bik)
