Amos Poe's feature film debut pays homage to French Nouvelle Vague cinema, especially the films of Jean-Luc Godard. The photographer Rico lives the life of a bohemian in New York, longs for Paris and feels like the hero of a Godard film. He even adopts Belmondo's gestures from À bout de souffle (Breathless), such as stroking his thumb over his lips (inspired by Bogart). Harry visits Rico for a photo session and sings the jazz song "Sweet Thing". (hjf)
