Film still from MESHES OF THE AFTERNOON: Portrait of a young woman in black and white.

Fri 27.09.

The pioneer of avant-garde film, dancer, photographer and theorist began making films in the early 1940s. Transcending traditional notions of time and space, she created subjective cinematic realities, intertwining film, dance, rituals, choreography and poetry, designing surrealistic dream worlds and cinematic choreographies and experimenting with trick techniques and, last but not least, chiaroscuro moods.
