Two years after its closure, the studio’s final manifesto was created from material that had escaped confiscation. I WAS CALLED TO THE BALL is a harrowing investigation into the rise of a dictator and political repression culminating in death. Human rights activist Galina Starovoitova was murdered in 1998.
