Big cinema, small cinema #72

From the 15 programs that Ute Aurand and Robert Beavers have shown in the “Big Cinema, Small Cinema” series at Arsenal since 2016, they have now chosen six films that they would like to watch again with the audience. Five of the films feature children and the remaining one a baby lion. Jeannette Muñoz shot ENVIO 26PARA REINHARDT ORTEGO Y FERNANDO SCHULZ (Chile 2013) in the Chilean Andes, while Khaled Mzher made his film in Jordan (COLOR MAKER, Jordan 2017) and Les Blank filmed in the American South (THE SUN’S GONNA SHINE, USA 1968). Lotte Reiniger uses cutout images to narrate (DOKTOR DOOLITTLE UND SEINE TIERE, 3. ABENTEUER: DIE AFFENKRANKHEIT, Germany 1928), Bruce Conner conjures up dreams with found film images (TAKE THE 5:10 TO DREAMLAND, USA 1975) and Ute Aurand created superimpositions of her nieces and nephews so that they all fit into one image.
