Le roi de l’évasion

While at the local cruising area, Armand, a gay tractor driver living in provincial southern France close to Toulouse, realizes he’s no longer interested in fucking just anyone. When he saves the 16-year-old Curly (Hafsia Herzi) one night from a group of pushy teenagers, both are immediately lost: Curly falls head over heels in love with the corpulent forty-something, as does he with the schoolgirl. The people around them – most of the men here are latently gay –react with a conspicuous lack of understanding. The odd couple decide to flee, from her father, from the police and from convention. An electronic arm band with a homing function and a wondrous root with intoxicating effects are further elements of this promiscuous relationship comedy that doesn’t give a damn about the laws of probability. In the end, Armand lands in bed with a whole group of men (including his boss and the police officer). (bik)
