Carson Lund’s debut feature is a poignant, elegiac baseball film set in 1990s Massachusetts. Against the backdrop of a beloved field being replaced by a school, two amateur teams play one final game, savouring the fading light of an autumn day. As the game stretches into extra innings, the players share memories, bonds, and gentle rivalries. With a quiet, nostalgic tone the film captures both the beauty of the sport and the passage of time as an era slips away.
“I intended for EEPHUS to exist in the great cinematic tradition of “hangout” films, celebrating the humanistic and experiential dimensions of the sport of baseball rather than the minutiae of the game itself. The film is less about the particular game being played than about the possibilities opened up by the game: of escape, of camaraderie, and of a deeper, more serene sense of time passing than what’s capable in the grind of a work week.” (Carson Lund) (kw)
