  • Introduction and conversation with Juan González and Angelika Ramlow

Film copies are subject to constant change. In the archive, this change is documented in condition reports that are created during the inspection of prints. In this series, filmmaker Juan González shares his personal moments of discovery during his work in the Arsenal archive. The filmmaker Corinne Cantrill (1928-2025), who died in February, and her husband Arthur (*1938) are central figures of experimental cinema. Their work explores the material properties of film as well as the visual and acoustic nature of the Australian landscape. Condition Report #11, curated with Angelika Ramlow, is dedicated to their groundbreaking work. The focus is on AT ELTHAM, A METAPHOR ON DEATH (1974), a film that Corinne herself described as the first significant film she made alone - a tribute to a deceased poet friend. Shot in the bush near a river, it experiments with exposure, focus and movement, lending the landscape an almost surreal quality. (Juan González)
