A huge railway project shatters the calm and tranquility of a remote Georgian mountain valley, which is to form part of the “New Silk Road” supposed to connect China with Europe. For the inhabitants of the affected village, the ground literally seems to be giving way under their feet: the construction of the tunnels causes cracks in the ground and landslides. The geopolitically motivated infrastructure project shakes the community to its core, which manifests itself in mistrust and misunderstandings between the Georgian workers and their Chinese bosses. The camera records these tense upheavals and contrasts them with images of the oft-surreal seeming tunnel construction beneath forested hills wreathed in cloud, the cows still grazing on them undisturbed.
