Ihjãc, a young indigenous Krahô from Brazil’s north-central state of Tocantins, must organize the funerary feast for his father so that his spirit can depart to the village of the dead. Resisting this difficult parting and his destiny as a shaman, Ihjãc runs away to the city, where he faces the reality of being indigenous in contemporary Brazil. This visually striking ethnographic narrative uses fiction to craft a delicate portrayal of the struggle of the Krahô people to secure their way of living as well as their very existence.
