Coconut Head Generation

Every Thursday, a group of students at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's oldest institution of higher learning, shows a film and transforms a small lecture hall into a political agora where power imbalances, gender relations and ethnic identity are debated. Instead of vilifying young people as the COCONUT HEAD GENERATION, the title of this documentary by Congolese-Nigerian director Alain Kassanda, moving insights into the courage and political engagement of the students who want to bring about social change are provided. (fw)
