These three documentaries, made at the East German film school HFF, provide an unusual view into the workaday world of what was officially called the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Both EIN HERBST IM LÄNDCHEN BÄRWALDE  and GLÜCK AUF – BILDER EINER BEWEGUNG were made with the participation of foreign students. The Burmeister film follows a group of young people who came to East Germany from Mozambique. MEININGEN MEININGEN , shot in dusky black and white, is a portrait of working life in the country’s express trains.

Films:
Ein Herbst im Ländchen Bärwalde (Gautam Bora, DDR 1983) DCP 30 min.
