Screenwriter Amitabha Roy is on his way to the provinces to do research for a new project. When his car breaks down in a small village, he recognizes in the wife of the man who offers him accommodation for the night his childhood sweetheart. He had left her out of cowardice at a difficult moment and had been unable to enter into a relationship with another woman ever since.
