This panel deals with the history of sound in film and its playback in the cinema. How to achieve the most authentic digitisation of an audio track in modern film restoration practice will be discussed. Representatives of film heritage institutions, from the educational sector in the fields of film sound and film heritage, as well as sound engineers, will discuss topics such as ambient sound, noise and general characteristics of historical film sound. The aim is to develop guidelines and decision-making aids when working with sound on restoration and digitisation projects. The event is aimed at representatives interested in the above-mentioned fields as well as any other historical film (sound) enthusiasts.
