MONANGAMBEEE is the pioneering debut film by Sarah Maldoror, who breaks with the aesthetic of militant cinema with impressive images and a soundtrack by the Art Ensemble of Chicago. The English title “White Death” doesn’t do justice to the word in Kimbundu, which refers to the idea that those who are taken away will not return. A significant film that played a role in revealing the tyranny, misogyny and racism of European colonialism.
