  • Introduction: Cinzia Cattin, followed by film talk with Cinzia Bullo

Sarangio is a small village in the foothills of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. The surrounding mountains and the lake that spreads out below the village lend the place a special charm as the seasons change. Marina was 30 when she moved there with her husband. She and her friend Adelaide are some of the few villagers left today. Nature is reclaiming the narrow streets because there is nobody left to remove the grass and cut the trees. The two women talk of their past with humor and candor.
SARANGIO, Cinzia Bullo's graduation film (G 1993) from the German Film and Television Academy was not intended as a study about the disintegration of mountain culture but as a respectful homage to age and memory and a snapshot of the irreversibility of history. (Cinzia Cattin)
