Watch out for women and queers creating havoc on the screen. Protagonists of different ages and social classes give way to their frustration by destroying the dishes, dominating their partners or simply causing chaos in public with their unexpected rebellious behavior. A selection of films from the Cinema’s First Nasty Women DVD collection, consisting of films made between 1903-1913, is shown alongside Jan Oxenberg’s A COMEDY IN SIX UNNATURAL ACTS that appropriates different Hollywood genres to deconstruct and exaggerate stereotypes of lesbian relationships. A stomping dyke then leads us into one of film history’s greatest finales. The low budget film produced within the lesbian community in Los Angeles transfers the collective joy of its making. (fe)
