The film depicts the oppressive and monotonous office life of a humble employee of peasant origin. In his efforts to gain a foothold in the vibrant city of Casablanca, he encounters many obstacles. He also has no luck in love. Although he tries to adapt and meet the expectations of professional and social advancement, he feels increasingly isolated and loses his joy for life.
