This polemical short film strings together images of the institution which the underprivileged expects to free them from their daily misery: the Catholic church, which is particularly reactionary in Colombia. The film’s logical end is a montage of revolutionary symbols. Julia de Álvarez and Carlos Álvarez were arrested in their home country in 1972 as alleged sympathizers of the National Army of Liberation. Together with other organizations, the Friends of the German Film Archive (today’s Arsenal) campaigned intensively for their release. In 1974, the two of them were released and subsequently went into exile.

This experimental documentary shows the political stances of adolescents of different social classes by way of capitalism-critical montages, satirical insertions, drawings and animated elements. The film was produced by the Centro de Cine Experimental at the Universidad de Chile, an important center for independent, social critical filmmaking in Chile. The military putsch made the planned theatrical release impossible. The premiere took place at the Filmwoche in Mannheim in October 1973, from where the print ultimately found its way to Arsenal.
