From October 23–27, the ninth edition of the Film Restored film heritage festival will be dedicated to the theme of community. The focus will be on the communal experience of making, archiving, restoring, and of course watching films. A movie is rarely the work of one individual, but rather the joint effort of many. As a medium, film has always served as a platform for marginalized communities. The preservation of film heritage itself is also dependent on collaboration. Without transnational exchange and knowledge sharing between archives, many restoration projects would simply be impossible. The world of cinema is filled with stories of togetherness, solidarity, and collective pressures that are testament to the multifaceted communities in different regions of the world. (Anke Hahn)
