Colonialism, religious war, and totalitarianism are central themes of Frank Herbert's science fiction cycle of novels "Dune", which he started publishing in the 1960s. In the sequel to the remake DUNE: PART TWO that features a star-studded cast - Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling – Prince Paul Atreides and his mother find refuge with the Fremen desert people after an attack by the Harkonnen. "DUNE: PART TWO is really a masterpiece, a world-creating epic. It is above all Villeneuve's visual imagination that carries this film: The Fremens' clothing, which makes them look like futuristic mujahideen. The desert, to which Villeneuve constantly gives new colors. The architecture on Arrakis, a mixture of the pyramids of ancient Egypt and the concrete brutalism of the 1970s. Not since Stanley Kubrick has a director designed a film as a world with such detail-obsessed precision." (Tobias Rapp)
