BRIDGE OF FLOWERS / PODUL DE FLORI (Thomas Ciulei, Romania 2008 | Dec. 1 & 3) Costica Ahir lives with his three children in Aciu, a small village in the Republic of Moldova. The mother is working in Italy to earn the living that their father's small farm cannot provide. Unobtrusively yet intimately, the film documents the Moldovan family's everyday life, thus giving impressive insights into a world on the fringes of Europe. BRIDGE OF FLOWERS won the documentary film award "Remembrance and Future" at the goEast film festival 2008. A discussion with the director following the screening on Dec. 1 will address the topical theme of migration from Eastern Europe. (Natalie Kronast)
