After Winter Comes Spring – Films Presaging the Fall of the Wall
Along with the numerous events that will take place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989, we will present the program "After Winter Comes Spring – Films Presaging the Fall of the Wall" dedicated to films from Eastern Europe and Germany, produced in the last years of the Cold War, that not only bear critical witness to the paralysis of outdated political systems, but also anticipate the coming radical change. What these movies share is the great sensitivity with which they grasp the mood prevailing in their respective societies and their hopes for a political opening. We are pleased to be able to greet a number of directors at the screening of the films. The film series was initiated by the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen. It was curated by Claus Löser and can simultaneously be viewed at the BrotfabrikKino.
