Jerry Tartaglia is filmmaker, author and restorer of Jack Smith's films. He has been dealing with the relation of experimental film and queer cinema for four decades. In 1977 he shot his first (lost) full-length film LAWLESS, with the Warhol star Pope Ondine, of which we will show an excerpt. His most likely best-known work is his A.I.D.S. Trilogy (1988/89), which deals with how America reacted to the emergence of AIDS. IS WHAT WAS (2008) is dedicated to the German past. The work on this film began in Berlin in 2007, when he attended Forum Expanded. Jerry Tartaglia is our guest with his own program. (Oct. 24)
