Craig Baldwin's new film MOCK UP ON MU (2008, Feb. 20) is a hybrid collage film using parts of different sci-fi, spy, western, and horror movies to tell the (for the most part) true story of Jack Parsons (Crowleyite and founder of the Jet Propulsion Labs), L. Ron Hubbard (sci-fi author and sect founder) and Marjorie Cameron (mother of the New Age movement). The film is a playful allegory, the narrative arc of which permeates the occult matrix of Californian postwar subcultures influenced by rocket pioneers, alternative religions and beat lifestyles. NEGATIVLAND: OUR FAVORITE THINGS (2008, Feb. 22) brings together 27 years of Negativland’s music on a DVD. Craig Baldwin will be present on both evenings.
An event in cooperation with the UdK (faculty of fine arts and Interflugs). Thanks to Sylvia Schedelbauer.
