In January we will present a further module of our film education program for schoolchildren and teachers "What is Cinema?": Jan. 24 & 25 are dedicated to documentary work, which Stefanie Schlüter will explain using four films as examples. Among others, early Lumière films will be shown, as well as POR PRIMERA VEZ (For the First Time, Octavio Cortazar, 1967) on the first film screening in a remote Cuban village. On the other weekends we will show: TATIS SCHÜTZENFEST (School for Postmen, Jacques Tati, F 1947, Jan. 3 & 4) about a village postman trying to set a record in mail delivery. DIE KLEINE BANDE (The Little Bunch, Michel Deville, F 1983, Jan. 10 & 11) accompanies seven English children during their adventures in France. In the Norwegian mountains, Rieke searches for a wild horse (RIEKES WILDPFERD, The Wild Horse, Morten Kolstad, 1994, Jan. 17 & 18). In VILLA HENRIETTE (Peter Payer, Ö 2004, Jan. 31), Marie must prevent her grandmother's house from being sold.
