The DEFA-Stiftung dedicates the third edition of its monthly film series
to the theme of coming to terms with the past. The program starts with a
conversation with a witness to history: HEINER MÜLLER: DAS STASI-KONSTRUKT (Thomas Grimm, D 1994). The documentary ICH WAR EIN GLÜCKLICHER MENSCH
(Eduard Schreiber, GDR 1990, as a guest: Eduard Schreiber) portrays the
journalist and staunch communist Tilbert Eckertz. Looking back on his
lifelong commit-ment to his ideals, Eckertz painfully realizes the
privations and losses associated with it. The second block of the
evening begins with the fictional short film DIE KLÄRUNG EINES SACHVERHALTS
(Sören Hüper, Christian Prettin, D 2008).A respectable industrial
engineer gets caught up in the wheels of the secret police. In STRENG VERTRAULICH ODER DIE INNERE VERFASSUNG
(Ralf Marschalleck, GDR 1990), members of the citizens' committee for
the dissolution of the secret police archives talk about their work,
their experiences and fears. (June 7)
