The Desire for Genre

From Oct. 7 to 10, the Deutsche Kinemathek will hold the symposium "Die Lust am Genre. Thriller aus Deutschland – Tradition und Erneuerung" ("The Desire for Genre. Thrillers from Germany – Tradition and Renewal"). Film and media scholars will examine the history of German crime and police movies and current trends in cinema and television. Director Hans-Christoph Blumenberg will open the symposium with a lecture on "the desire for genre."
