As a variation of the title of this month's Magical History Tour, what suggests itself as the heading for Charlie Chaplin's masterly THE GOLD RUSH (USA 1925) is "Snow Ahoy." Masses of snow and snowstorms regularly impede Chaplin's various adventures and finally lead to the dramatic climax in which the tramp, a mountaintop and balance play a central role.
