Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi (*1972) is currently a guest of the DAAD's Artists-in-Berlin Programme. Farhadi received the Silver and Golden Bear at the Berlinale for his films About Elly (2009) and A Separation (2011) respectively. In the night before the celebrations for the Iranian New Year in March, a big firework display is to take place, with spring cleaning needing to be done beforehand. Rouhi, who is from the country and about to be married, is hired by a wealthy Teheran couple as a cleaning lady. The jealous wife believes that her husband is cheating on her with the neighbor and asks Rouhi to watch him, causing her to get caught increasingly between the two fronts over the course of a single day. The climate of the marriage and the whole house are determined by accusations, intrigue, lies, rumors and outbreaks of violence.
