Several projects are about the rehaul of our film archive. One of them is a fellow program that we are organizing in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut which gives film curators from abroad the chance to conduct research at Arsenal.
Madhusree Deeta from Mumbai is our first curator-in-residence. We are showing her film SEVEN ISLANDS AND A METRO (2006), in which she portrays the multi-faceted city of Mumbai in a fairy-tale. She has woven a tapestry of fiction, cinéma vérité, works of art, footage that has been found, sound installations and literary texts, and thereby created a living archive. (May 10)
