In June, we will release two films by Berlin-based filmmaker Stefan Landorf. MEETING (Germany 2009) is a film for anyone who's ever felt like theyre just rehashing the same old pre-packaged phrases and is beginning to wonder why. Stefan Landorf's film allows audiences to barge in on meetings held at a wide range of different companies and institutions, ranging from GlaxoSmithKline, the 14th tank division of the German army and the Africa department of a leading children's charity, and introduces them in the process to such seemingly indecipherable terms as base shifting, interest barriers, shell companies and profit retention discounts. MEETING infiltrates these normally hidden worlds, examining the words and gestures of those taking part in the meetings in order to map the rapidly growing sphere of formal communication.
MEETING will be shown on June 4 as part of the "Performing Documentary" series before going on general release at Arsenal on June 9. (June 4 + June 9-15).
