Silent film expert Vaginal Davis presents NORRTULLSLIGAN (The Nurtull Gang, 1923) by Per Lindberg: the so-called "girls of silk" of the 1920s made their way through life independently and in a newly matter of fact manner, with men not allowed into the rooms where these young unmarried women lived. The story focuses on a secretary who becomes the film's self-deprecating narrator. She is under no illusions about her life: her job, Sunday lunches at her rich aunt’s house, her boss's meddlings. The flat she shares with a group of other women ends up becoming a strike headquarters.
With live music by John and Tim Blue. Followed by Drinks in the Red Royer. (September 24)
