THE DEFA Foundation presents

In May, the DEFA Foundation has two reasons to celebrate – the establishment on 17th May 1946 of the DEFA, to which it is dedicating its monthly series, and its director Helmut Morsbach's 65th birthday.

In the first part the DEFA Film Library, which is devoted to the study of the DEFA in the U.S., will present films from its program. DER AUGENZEUGE 1946/8 (The Eye-Witness, Soviet Occupation Zone/GDR 1946) is about the newly-founded DEFA. In his last feature film, VERFEHLUNG, Heiner Carow depicts a failed love affair between East and West. Angelica Domröse and Gottfried John play the main roles.
