DAWIDS TAGEBUCH (Dawid's Diary, Konrad Weiß, GDR 1981) traces the life of Dawid Rubinowicz. His diary stops in June 1942 and on Yom Kippur, Dawid and and his family are murdered. Using interviews, photos, films and shots of landscapes, Weiß composes a moving documentary. We will show DAWIDS TAGEBUCH on Holocaust Remembrance Day alongside films that were made at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen MEMENTO (GDR 1966, Karlheinz Mund) and FLAMMEN (Konrad Weiß, GDR 1967). A homage to the director Konrad Weiß, who is celebrating his 70th birthday in February 2012 and will also be present for the occasion. (Tobias Ebbrecht)
