OS RESIDENTES (The Residents) (Brazil 2010) in Tiago Mata Machado's have declared war on a world where utopia and poetry have gone astray. They are a sort of Situationist urban guerillas, spending their days creating havoc at both a material and immaterial level. Riddled with discursive and filmic references, the film is fully aware of its own limitations whilst still stridently putting forward the thesis that something of the havoc-creating power of the original gesture remains in every repetition.
