A cross between cinema, art and performance, something has taken on a life of its own that still remains nameless although it has existed independently for a long time, without losing any of its openness however. On the contrary: In the Forum Expanded program once again there are many works that are surprising because they are convincing but do not let themselves be pigeon-holed.
Aside from films and exhibitions, there will be many opportunities to talk about the themes related to these works in HAU Hebbel am Ufer and at the Museum of Decorative Arts, to continue discussions from previous years or to look at new trends: the state of independent cinema in Cairo, new approaches in an aesthetic language of analysis and research in film studies, or a new way of dealing with archives, which places history in the present (see here) to name but a few examples.
Forum Expanded is once again presenting a work by Isabella Rossellini who embodies the space between cinema and artistic self-will like almost no other. MAMMAS is the sequel to her 2008 "Green Porno" series. Once again she slips into animal roles – this time to examine and question motherly instincts.
