Luta ca caba inda / The Struggle is not Over Yet (Filipa César)
"Acto dos Feitos da Guiné" (1980) by Fernando Matos Silva appears in Arsenal's database. The remains of a film archive are digitalized in Berlin. The early days of cinema in Guinea-Bissau - film as a liberation struggle – once again become visible, with a green tint, pale, lacerated, alive. Statues of the Portuguese colonizers haunt the archivist Armando Lona as his fingers leaf through pages, they haunt Flora Gomes' film Mortu Nega, and lie beaten in Chris Marker's Sans soleil, in Sana na N'Hada's broken images of an unfinished film and in Filipa César's installation Cacheu (KW). Anita Fernandez brings her short UN BALCON EN AFRIQUE to Berlin, remembers this restless era and reconstructs fragments of another film that was never finished. (17.6, Anita Fernandez is our guest)
