"If you're looking for us in Cannes, you're most likely to find us in a film by a woman or a collective," Erika Gregor once said. In 1975, she discovered a Danish film at the festival that seemed at first to be a mainstream product but soon revealed itself to be a subversive comedy. TA' DET SOM EN MAND, FRUE! (Take it Like a Man, Madam!, Denmark 1975) was made by the Red Sisters collective (Mette Knudsen, Elisabeth Rygaard, Li Vilstrup). The film is about Ellen Rasmussen, a 50-year-old middle-class woman, in an average marriage. She drinks and has all the known symptoms of housewife neurosis. Suddenly she has a dream in which gender roles are reversed. (12.6., Introduction by Erika Gregor)
