Walking Smartphone Tree (Johannes Paul Raether)

"Walking Smartphone Tree" is a "sculptural extraction" from the research and reading of the artistic figure Protektorama, a world-healing witch. The self-declared "materialist spiritualist" examines the relationship between global flow of goods and the production of images with smartphones. In the world-healing forest, she tries to distil new applications from the ritual practice of Voodoo against the abstract rule of capital. The smartphone tree was developed as part of the forest for the Living Archive "A Shared Stage of Contingent Production" event with Ian White at Hebbel Am Ufer and it shows extracts of a world-healing ritual that was documented with the tree itself and with the telephones of those present.
