A program of six shorts kicks off the series "I. Female self-reflection in East and West German Film". Featuring works made by female directors between 1966 and 1988, the series will be screened in selected cinemas from March. The program includes documentary works by Helke Misselwitz (AKTFOTOGRAFIE –Z.B. GUNDULA SCHULZ) and Petra Tschörtner (SCHNELLES GLÜCK), who observe their female protagonists with reserve. Sieglinde Hamacher's animated film DIE LÖSUNG is about the power of the individual. May Spils also weaves elements of animation into her ironic variation on self-portrait. UMWEGE by Susanne Beyeler and ICH by Bettina Flitner play with documentary elements to unmask "typical" female, or male, lives. (ah) (29.2., Introduction: Claudia Lenssen)
