BRUNO DER SCHWARZE (West Germany 1970, guest: Lutz Eisholz) is a portrait of Bruno S., a Berlin street musician who received international attention only a few years after Lutz Eisholz's dffb graduation film after playing Kaspar Hauser in Werner Herzog's "The Enigma of Kasper Hauser". Bruno S. was born in Berlin on June 2, 1932 and wandered through several homes and institutions from an early age. His childhood during the Nazi era was marked by brutal educational methods and the experience of seeing children being transported to concentration camps. Afterwards, he lived in various closed facilities, before being released in 1962 as "cured". By looking at two additional protagonists, the films shows the social and emotional ramifications suffered by children who were forced to live in homes and describes the circumstances that led to parents putting a child into such facilities.
