As part of a seminar on the "Aesth/ethics of Trust", the UdK Art and Media program and Arsenal have invited the filmmaker and artist Bodil Furu from Norway to come to Berlin. Furu's documentary practice balances observatory and arranged forms of narration, drawing on comprehensive research and careful collaboration with her protagonists. Her long-term documentary WHERE MOUNTAINS FALL (2012) catalyses the idiosyncratic memories of the former inhabitants of two islands in the north of Norway into the form of a dialogue. CODE MINIER (2013, camera: Eva Könnemann) is a mining law that has opened up the Congo to multinational mining companies since 2002. The film follows individual characters and their direct experience with copper mining. They present themselves like characters in a play, as fragmented as the contested land. Two actors expand the picture with fundamental thoughts about history, the ground, and laws. (mb) (5.7.)
