A nationwide school cinema series on remembering the holocaust through film: for the start of the series at the Arsenal cinema, which is accompanied by an educational program, we are showingSOBIBÓR, 14 OCTOBRE 1943, 16 HEURES(Claude Lanzmann, France 2001, 10., 11., 12. & 13.10.). The title of the film refers to the exact location, date, and time of the only successful armed uprising in a National Socialist death camp. Yehuda Lerner, one of the survivors of the uprising, responds to Lanzmann’s questions and to the images of the memorial, in clear and simple words, about his fate as a 16-year-old forced laborer and his role in the revolt.
