The exhibition project A 37 90 89. The invention of the Neo-Avantgarde at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) is dedicated to the project space A 37 90 89, which was founded in 1969 in Antwerp and had a decisive influence on the development of project spaces around the world, serving as an example for later models of alternative project spaces, producer galleries, and participative initiatives. Aside from a cooperation with the contemporary project space after the butcher, the project features a film program realized in conjunction with Arsenal and discursive events as well as discussions with eyewitnesses. Until January 2019, there will be one film evening a month at Arsenal. David L. Weiss’ NO VIETNAMESE EVER CALLED ME NIGGER(USA 1968) documents a protest against Vietnam War in New York and its links with the civil rights movement.
