The exhibition project A 37 90 89. The invention of the Neo-Avantgarde at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) is dedicated to the project space A 37 90 89, which was founded in 1969 in Antwerp and had a decisive influence on the development of project spaces around the world, serving as an example for later models of alternative project spaces, producer galleries, and participative initiatives. Aside from a cooperation with the contemporary project space after the butcher, the project features a film program realized in conjunction with Arsenal and discursive events as well as discussions with eyewitnesses. Until January 2019, there will be one film evening a month at Arsenal. David L. Weiss’ NO VIETNAMESE EVER CALLED ME NIGGER(USA 1968) documents a protest against Vietnam War in New York and its links with the civil rights movement. Based on interviews with GIs, the film is about the impact of the Vietnam War on the Afro-American population. Introduction: Michael Baute. (27.9.)
